Personally I think that the apps I use the most are entertainment
apps so those being apps like Instagram, Snapchat, Tik Tok, things like that.
What I learned from the video in regard to identity theft is that just in the
US alone 10 million people fell to ID theft in 2009, it’s been a huge problem
worldwide and apparently is getting worse. According to the video because fact that we use this 9-digit number, and it is our identifier for many things
it builds up and essentially gets out there that anyone can really get it if
they tried. Somethings we could do to protect our data is I think just being
more careful and like they said just be more cautious, like at times people are
just waving their cards around not really thinking anything of it but there’s malicious
people out there that will take advantage so overall I think just being extra
safe and doing extra research on things before inserting personal information.

After
doing some research on some popular laptops I narrowed down my options to three,
the first laptop I will be talking about is the Dell-Inspiron 15.6-inch FHD +
Touch Laptop- AMD Ryzen 5- 12 GB RAM – 256 GB SSD + 1 TB HDD – Black. The hard
drive capacity of this laptop is 1000 gigabytes, the hard drive RPM is 5400
revolutions per minute, the hard drive interface is SATA and as for a hard
drive accelerator there is not any. The system memory (RAM) of this laptop is
12 gigabytes, the type of memory (RAM) is DDR4 and the speed of it is 2400
megahertz. The graphics of this laptop is AMD Radeon Vega 8 and the type is integrated.
The second computer I’m going to be talking about is the HP – Pavilion x360
2-in-1 14” Touch-Screen Laptop – Intel Core i5 – 8GB Memory – 256GB SSD – Warm Gold,
the hard drive for this laptop was not listed but the system memory (RAM) is 8
gigabytes which is 4 less than the first laptop, the type of memory (RAM) is
also DDR4 SDRAM and the speed is 3200 megahertz, as for the graphics of this
laptop is Intel Iris Xe Graphics and the type is Integrated like the first
laptop.
For the last laptop I decided to do
an Apple product because Apple is always so up there so let’s see, I chose the
MacBook Pro 13.3” Laptop – Apple M1 chip- 8GB Memory – 256GB SSD (Latest Model)
– Space Gray. For this laptop there does not seem to be hard drive information
either like the second laptop, but the system memory (RAM) is 8 gigabytes once
again like the second laptop and the type of memory (RAM) for this laptop is
LPDDR3. All these elements are important when deciding on which laptop to get,
RAM is important because it’s the fast and temporary data storage space that
you need in your computer if you want to access things there and then or in the
quick future! As for the hard drive, the hard drive is probably one of the most
important components when it comes to a laptop because if you have no hard
drive you would not be able to save anything, run or download applications on your
computer. Lastly the graphic card is also an important element because it’s
used for rendering a images on the screen so essentially it takes data and
converts it into something that the monitoring system can take and us to show
your image. After all this research on the three laptops I think that I would
chose the first laptop because of the fact that it actually tells me about its
hard drive and its RAM is 12 gigabytes rather than 8, yes the computer may be a
little slower but overall I think that it does the job and gives you that space
needed for school and if I were to upgrade in 18 months I don’t think I would
need to have much replaced because going off of the information I think Id be
fine maybe just add more storage possibly.

After watching the video I learned that you have to be
more aware of your surrounding because there’s things like cameras or people
watching like skimmers. Credit card fraud is at $16 billion per year in the US,
because of there being many ways of doing it, they can simply just copy our card
when you slide it and apps and things like that, they’re trying to install magnets
to cards to avoid these things like adding the chip on the card and not the
swipe which is super interesting me because I initially thought they just
changed to that just for the convenience and because its quicker that way. They
also have shielded wallets so that people cannot scan things from your wallet. Personally,
what I would do differently is just be more observant, purchase things like the
shield protector and use chip as much as I can instead of swiping and also
check ATM’s and things like that and make sure that their aren’t additional attachments
to the machine that shouldn’t be there and cover for cameras as for online
shoppers something I would advise is for them to install VPNs and have good
passwords and to also check statements. Overall, I liked everything about the
video, I think it was very informational and taught me a lot.

The article “Globalization Helps Spread Knowledge and
Technology Across Boarders” By Aqib Aslam, Johannes Eugster, Giang Ho, Florence
Jaumotte, Carolina Osorio-Buitron and Roberto Piazza talks about how technology
helps rise the innovation and productivity globally. The article talks about
the importance of technology and how it spreads throughout the world because that
depends on the growth that we can make in the tech world. According to the
article from 1995-2014 the United States, Germany, France, Japan, and the
United Kingdom produced three of the four innovations meaning that they are far
more advanced in technology but apparently China and Korea are making a great comeback
and now are playing a larger role in technology development this means that
their labor productivity is on the rise. Not only do the countries and world
overall benefit from this but also the tech leaders seem to be benefitting from
the innovations, they state that other countries might be lacking these innovations
because of the fact that they don’t have the education needed like, engineering,
domestic research, and so on which is affecting their growth as a country in
the tech world itself.
