Cloud 04/17

How does it affect you today? I think that the cloud affects us today because I feel like you can never fully get rid of something, it saves everything because of redundancy so If something happens to your device and you have it backed up it can still access those files from other devices so I think the cloud can be a good thing but also maybe a not so good thing.   How do you imagine the Cloud to be used in the future? I’m not quite sure how the cloud will be used in the future, the cloud its self kind of amazes me and I already find it so technically advanced and futuristic so I’m not quite sure, maybe it’ll possibly be used for more things?

Digital Citizenship 04/17

What are the digital citizenship “do’s” that Richard Culatta lists at the beginning of his presentation? To use it to make your community better, respect debate, shape public policy and recognize the validity of online sources. “Our ability to recognize truth from fiction are essential to our survival in society”, according to Richard Culatta. What are your personal thoughts about today’s expression: “fake news”? I think that personally for me fake news is detectable, Its very important to be taught how to detect fake news because it could put your safety, money, and etc. in danger so I completely agree with Richard!   What are your thoughts about the posting from Kristen Lane wanting to sell her prom dress? I think that what she went through was horrible, I think that no one should have to deal with what Kristen Lane had to go through. The person that chose to be a good digital citizen changed tha...

Biometrics 04/17

  1.      1.   Another big device that is making use of biometric technology are smart phones! A few of the newer iPhones have this feature so that you can essentially still have a lock on your phone but not have to enter a passcode every time, you can simply just set up any finger of your choice to have full access of your cellphone! 2.     2.    I’m going to predict that cars are soon going to have this feature if they don’t already! When you think back to it cars have also had passcodes so I wouldn’t be surprised if they began to include biometric technology as well. 3.    3.     Personally, I think that there’s both pros and cons, one of the pros being that you have quick access, it saves you time and also prevents you from accidently forgetting your passcode. The con I would say, and this is more on the morbid side, but I think that certain people would go to the extent of even using your finger to acces...

Ergonomics 4/10

After watching the video, I learned many things about ergonomics. The first thing that I learned is that it is always best to stay in your natural posture, it will help with concentration. The next tip is to make sure that your keyboard is in the correct place, they state that you usually want to have it one to two inches away from you and close to your lap and avoid wrist rests. The next tip is to avoid being too close to your monitor, it will avoid eye pain and will allow an even look at the screen. Number four seating, seating is crucial, you should have a chair that follows your back and meets your lungs a long with the end of your seat should have a little space between your legs. The last tip it so make sure your feet aren’t dangling and if they do rather than lowering the seat add a foot rest.

Cloud Computing 4/10

After watching the video, I learned many things about cloud computing and types of IT services used with public, private, and hybrid clouds. One of the types of IT services is SaaS, SaaS lets users to access applications and it has a little or no control over the delivery, Gmail is an example of a SaaS service. Another IT service is PaaS, PaaS gives access to software developments that lets them make cloud applications, they allow control, but no infrastructure control and it controls over all the configuration settings. The last type of IT service is IaaS, IaaS is an easy and quick provision recourse that includes processing networks and storage without the need of infrastructure. Overall, private infrastructure takes longer because of the process of being approved.

Networking Video Summary 3/28

While watching the video on network topologies I learned a lot! I learned that there are different types of typologies, one being the star, in this typology all computers are connected to a hub or switch and they go through and what is interesting is if one computer has an error the others do not but if the hub fails then all computers would fail. The next type is a ring, all the computers are set up in a ring and all the computers have two neighbors and it is a very old form of typology, because of the fact that these computers are all in a loop it is more likely if one computer fails, they all fail. The next type is bus, its also an old version, all the computers are connected by one cable and it is a cheap way of typology but both ends must have terminators. Next, we have mesh, mesh has four computers and they just bounce off each other, but they are expensive so not many use them. Infrastructure, what a lot of us are mostly familiar with is our wireless co...

Package Video Paragraph 3/28

While watching the videos I learned a lot about packet switching. I learned the process on packet switching, each package can contain a certain amount of information and then is labeled with an address, later the package is sent where needed. Another machine that is useful is the router switch, this machine also helps sort out the packages and then once they arrive, they’re picked up, a URL is made and then sent to the internet, some do not cross the process because they may be inappropriate and are destroyed. Then packages are then sent through the firewall and then they’re back to sorting and then they’re finally able to enter the internet!
